Roadmaps
Love or hate roadmaps, they are probably an integral part of your job if you’re in a product role. Roadmaps are used in a lot of different ways often as a means to communicate expected launch and delivery dates. A lot of different types - and schools - have emerged; outcome-based roadmaps, portfolio roadmaps, next-now-later roadmaps and many more.
You will be able to find pros and cons for each of the types of roadmaps. We started discussing the need for adding a roadmap view to Qualitive a while ago and got some interesting feedback from our test users. On the positive side, users liked the option to filter roadmaps via user-created tags that can create roadmap views based on platforms, products, metrics, business objectives, desired outcomes or whatever the users intend to focus on. By doing that we could combine elements from classic roadmap views with newer methods from e.g. outcome-based roadmaps.
Our aim is to create the most simple and easy-to-use product platform in the market and continuously optimize the core instead of adding a lot of new features. In a crowded market we need to focus on how we stand out and simplicity is something we often get great feedback on.
Our next update will include a customizable product requirements template allowing users to scope a backlog/roadmap candidate item in more details and elaborate on the idea and capture feedback.
Stay tuned and thanks for reading!
